While the responsibilities of Journeyman and Lead Hands do vary, they are generally responsible for planning, supervising, executing and documenting electrical installations from mobilization to completion. They assist with ensuring all on-site activities are safely executed within the project schedule, budget, and scope while exceeding customer expectations. They will support in leading the team, teaching, coaching, and mentoring their crew according to Leading Edge Electric’s values, policies, and procedures.

· Certified Inter-Provincial Red Seal Journeyman Electrician

· Field Safety Representative (FSR) certification preferred

· 3+ years experience in commercial electrical construction

· 2+ years as lead hand or journeyman

· Supervisory experience leading and managing crews preferred

· Extensive installation experience (e.g. distribution, lighting control, fire alarm, data etc.)

· Strong work ethic (punctual, reliable, self-motivated, and ability to work independently)

· High level of accuracy and attention to detail


· Conducts high quality work aligned with company expectations

· Installs, tests, and commissions electrical equipment and systems

· Assists with ensuring tasks are completed on budget, on schedule, and on scope

· Participates in site-related meetings including site walkthroughs, checklists, and safety meetings

· Plans, organizes, and schedules labour, materials, and equipment required for completion of tasks

· Assists project staff with managing change orders as per company process

· Assigns tasks, provides instruction, monitors progress, and inspects quality of work of team members

· Addresses and/or escalates issues accordingly (e.g. site problems, failed inspections, safety incidents, etc.)

· Manages site equipment and materials, ensuring that they are ordered, received, stored, and used correctly

· Maintains and enforces safety compliance

· Monitors and records site progress

· Maintains accurate as-built drawings, layouts, and other project documentation

· Maintains good relationships with clients, engineers, contractors, and other trade leads

· Participates in hiring, onboarding, training, conducting performance evaluations, motivating, and taking corrective action with employees, including termination and offboarding, as requested
